Kathryn R. Stam, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the SUNY Institute of Technology in Utica, New York. She teaches undergraduate anthropology courses and graduate courses for the Information Design and Technology program. In addition to the book The Visible Employee (Information Today, Inc.) that she coauthored with IST's Jeffrey Stanton, Dr. Stam has published in a wide range of scholarly journals including the Journal of Digital Information, the Journal of Information Systems Education, the ACM SIGMIS Database Journal, Surveillance and Society, Social Science and Medicine, and the Heidelberg Journal of Religions on the Internet. Her current research interests are virtual ethnography, the information technology profession, distance learning, and the anthropology of gender.
